I am writing to you today on behalf of the Bayou Region Foster & Adoptive Parent Association. We serve the Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. John, St. James, St. Charles, and Assumption Parish foster youth and their families. We are committed to serving the youth by opening a local foster closet in our area.

Our foster closet is still in need of a PERMANENT home!!  We are still in the process of trying to find a local business or organization in the Houma or Thibodaux area who would be willing to donate a room or location to be used as the home of the Blooming Closet that is here for the youth in our area. One day, we hope to have it will be set up like a store to give the foster youth an opportunity to come in and “shop” for their new items.  It will also be used for storage to accommodate our donations, any overflow, and to hold items that are not in season.

There is over 600 youth in the Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish foster care system. Each day
approximately 230 families serve these children. We keep these children in our minds and hearts as they come in and out of our homes and do our best to assist them in every way. When a child is pulled from their home, they often arrive into the foster family scared and confused with nothing more than the clothes on their back.  These children need a place where they can choose their own clothes, comfort items & basic toiletries; a place where they feel safe and understood. That is where the Blooming Closet comes in!

If you are in need of ANYTHING for your foster children, please feel free to contact us! If we do not have it in our possession, we will do our best to obtain the item for you! You can contact us on facebook or email bayouregionfapa@gmail.com
